A founder duo of self-proclaimed “pepper-freaks” needed to create a new brand and products to break into the pepper flakes category. They were just beginning. Together with the founder, we explored opportunities for product innovation in the pepper category.

Dried pepper flakes can offer a variety of delicious flavors that complement food in subtle, yet delicious ways. With a boring and myopic pepper flake category, how can we create a brand that embraces and expands on how dried peppers can be used in everything from savory foods to desserts to beverages, while becoming a mainstay on the table and in the bar?

Inspired by the pepper adventurer interested in finding unique ways to enhance the taste of their food, we designed the CAPSCO brand to feature the many varieties of the capsicum genus (pepper plant) that make up each of CAPSCO’s artisanal 4 flake blends. From farm to flakes, each flavor blend embodies it’s own richness, with influence from around the globe.

We used our Fenomenal consumer focus groups to test branding and packaging designs to land on a direction that spoke to foodies and heat-freaks alike. Following packaging production, we produced custom photography for web and social media, all managed by a very hard-working founding team.
