Turning Up the Extra on Nut Butter Branding

When the founder of District Snacks came to us, his request was bold, clear, and unapologetic:

"My current branding is too generic and doesn't show off my personality. I do like that it is bright, but in an effort for simplicity and looking clean, it doesn’t stand out. My friends call me very ‘extra,’ as you can see on my social media."

We couldn’t resist.

After diving into his vibrant, expressive world on social media, we saw a founder who was fully living his truth—full of fun, full of color, and full of personality. But none of this was reflected in his brand world or packaging.

The assignment was clear:

  • Take District Snacks out of the closet.

  • Dial up the extra, embrace the sparkle, and celebrate LGBTQ pride.

To transform District Snacks into a celebration of personality, pride, and flavor, we built a brand world as fabulous as its founder.

Ditching the Old, Embracing the Bold → The Washington D.C. monument icon in the original logo? Gone. We replaced it with a sparkling disco ball, paying tribute to the disco-party vibe of the brand’s launch and the energy of LGBTQ pride.

Retro Typography with a Groove → Inspired by disco vinyl records from the ‘70s, we paired the brandmark with groovy, extra, and expressive typefaces that felt fun, nostalgic, and full of life.

Drag Queens Own the Stage → Inspired by drag culture and LGBTQ icons, we created a brand world where drag queens reign. Each queen owns a flavor—her style, personality, and fabulous hair dictate the vibe of the label. Every jar feels like a mini-stage, celebrating self-expression, boldness, and a little bit of camp.

A Color Palette That Sparkles → We embraced full-spectrum, high-energy colors that radiate joy, pride, and FUN—ensuring the brand doesn’t just stand out, it commands attention.
